City of Burnie Lions Club

Chartered in 1960, City of Burnie Lions Club have been serving the community of Burnie and beyond for over 50 years. We meet on the 2nd & 4th Tuesdays of the month at 11 Fidler Street, Cooee.

Current community activities undertaken by the Club:

Hazell Bros. Burnie 10 Waterfront Festivities 20/10/13 (All profits to NW Cancer Centre support)

Breakfast on the Bay 20/12/13 (All profits to Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Fund)

7BU Burnie Lions and Leos Christmas Parade 20/12/1

Night on the Terrace - Bar 31/12/13 (a joint operation with City of Burnie Brass Band and Somerset Surf Club - where all profits are shared and used to support the activities of each club)

Relay for Life March 2014 (all profits to NW Relay for Life)
65 Roses Day May 2014 (Club co-ordinates statewide collection of donations to Cystic Fibrosis Tasmania)

Burnie Leo Club (supporting a group of 12 - 28yo Burnie residents to learn volunteering skills and build lifelong friendships)

Spectacles Recycling (collecting used spectacles to assist the national program Lions Recycle for Sight Australia Inc. Used specs, sunnies, hearing aids and other medical type supplies are collected, regraded and recycled to people in need in developing countries.)

Lions Mints and Cakes Sales

Citizen of the Year Award (made annually to a Burnie resident/s who have been identified as making a positive difference to the lives of Burnie citizens)
